The attention of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State President, Chief Leo Okafor aka Oba Ojoto has been drawn to a circulating message calling on “all Igbos” to act in a politically charged and confrontational manner ahead of the 2027 general elections.

We state , in the clearest and strongest terms, that such a message is purely a personal opinion and does not represent the collective position, will, or voice of Ndigbo anywhere in Lagos, Nigeria or in the diaspora.

Ndigbo are a people of wisdom, enterprise, and democratic maturity. We do not subscribe to reckless generalizations, political coercion, or inflammatory rhetoric designed to divide the country along ethnic lines. Any attempt to drag the entire Igbo nation into partisan alignments or hostile narratives is irresponsible, unacceptable, and strongly condemned.

The President therefore issues the following directives:

All Igbos are strongly advised to participate in the democratic process by registering with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in their respective voting locations. Possession of a valid Permanent Voter Card (PVC) remains the only legitimate means of exercising one’s civic right during the 2027 general elections.

Political participation must be guided by individual conviction, informed choice, and national interest, not by ethnic pressure or mob sentiment.

We sternly warn against the circulation or publication of statements capable of inciting hatred, provoking ethnic tension, or triggering avoidable conflicts. Such actions are dangerous, short-sighted, and will not be tolerated.

Let it be clearly understood:
Ndigbo are committed to peaceful coexistence, national unity, and responsible political engagement. We will not be used as instruments of division or instability.

Any individual or group found promoting divisive, inciting, or ethnically provocative narratives in the name of Ndigbo should cease immediately or be prepared to face the full weight of moral, communal, and legal consequences.

This serves as a final caution.
