His entrepreneurial journey began several decades ago at Alaba International Market, Ojo, Lagos, where the young Leo Okafor ventured into the electronics and allied-products business under the tutelage of his elder brother, Chief Dennis Okafor. By the early 1980s, Leonard Okafor was already making regular business trips to China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore, sourcing quality electronics and allied products for the Nigerian market. Over the years, his business activities and travels have taken him to several countries across the world, including the United Kingdom, United States of America, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, Thailand and India, among others. These journeys were not merely about travelling; they were opportunities to study markets, establish relationships, identify quality products and understand developments in international commerce.

His extensive international exposure helped transform him from a young electronics trader into an internationally connected businessman with a deep understanding of global commerce. Today, High Chief Leonard Okafor is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Victory Electronics Company Limited and Chairman of Top Solar Company Limited, among other business interests. His leadership experience later extended beyond Nigeria when he served as President of the ECOWAS Trans-Border Traders Associations. The position further demonstrated the confidence reposed in him by the business community and his capacity to understand the realities of commerce across national boundaries.

Today, he occupies another important leadership position as President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State Chapter. The responsibility is significant, considering the size, diversity and economic importance of the Igbo community in Lagos. His leadership philosophy is anchored on unity, peaceful coexistence and mutual respect. One of the principles he strongly believes in is “no malice to one another.” For him, disagreement should not become hatred, and differences should not permanently destroy relationships.
